This is a beautifully detailed house. The layout of the house is just wonderful. It has six rooms plus a large attic. It has four fireplaces and a wraparound porch! It measures only 15" wide X 20" high x 16" deep. I'm creating a Victorian themed house. I love working in this scale. Be sure to stop by often to see the progress as the house comes together.CraftyKatyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12040392726065996467noreply@blogger.comBlogger21125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4917968807253386910.post-32436009026171266732012-01-01T18:31:00.000-05:002012-01-01T18:31:52.761-05:00Happy New Year!Happy New Year Everyone! Here's to an exciting 2012! I look forward to sharing more progress of my Fairfield. What's to come... I purchased a remote control for my lights! Yes that's right a remote control. I will be able to control the lights in each room! It doesn't look to complicated to setup, we will see.CraftyKatyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12040392726065996467noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4917968807253386910.post-90864639429083743812011-10-30T18:39:00.001-04:002011-10-30T20:43:59.065-04:00Dolls for my FairfieldI haven't been blogging in a while as real life gets in the way of miniatures from time to time. I've been re-inspired to work on my Fairfield. I have lots to do and lots planned. Over the next few weeks I will be working on the exterior and doing some more finishing work on the inside.<br />
<br />
I'm so excited I received my Victorian Dolls from Pat Boldt! They're just amazing. The detail is exquisite. Pat made me a Victorian Man, Woman, Little Girl, Little Boy, and a Baby. I love them so much! They have already moved in!<br />

This project has been a great challenge. I started by looking for clock kits as my thought was that I could do some modifications to make it 1/2 inch scale. In my hunt I came across the House of Miniatures Grandmother Clock. This clock is less than half the size of a 1 inch scale clock so its perfect.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyXGuGz25P9IoGipbblEyXbw21A6LVsqqjV9KzVbANdpr-4M0ucu-DcvdpNJQayRawf4U8H6QRvg3kb497HyHf98JSpMu3vo5chW3pfSAyofMs-O2hragOpj20Y7GCI5uCrBtEnOAIa-Sr/s1600/Clock.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyXGuGz25P9IoGipbblEyXbw21A6LVsqqjV9KzVbANdpr-4M0ucu-DcvdpNJQayRawf4U8H6QRvg3kb497HyHf98JSpMu3vo5chW3pfSAyofMs-O2hragOpj20Y7GCI5uCrBtEnOAIa-Sr/s320/Clock.jpg" width="191" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">House of Miniatures Grandmother Clock</td></tr>
</tbody></table><br />
The next step was to find a small working clock that I could take apart. I found a cheap one that I didn't mind disassembling. I had to be very careful removing the hands as they were extremely fragile. I wasn't sure at this point if I was even going to be able to get it back together.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Disassembled Working Clock</td></tr>
</tbody></table><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_y1NErJCmnjkZPEtIGodcfKf0FyfpfhWtjONlH3uSz7A9wL384yhgQtJvPapSmTRb6FNcQZi2qGnTlUP2M_Yi6y8YwYnOa0_UPaN01uIH7rY9nKZOgzj0ao9SaJmZqwRxgxi9ZzxJp1jx/s1600/All+the+pieces.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_y1NErJCmnjkZPEtIGodcfKf0FyfpfhWtjONlH3uSz7A9wL384yhgQtJvPapSmTRb6FNcQZi2qGnTlUP2M_Yi6y8YwYnOa0_UPaN01uIH7rY9nKZOgzj0ao9SaJmZqwRxgxi9ZzxJp1jx/s320/All+the+pieces.jpg" width="191" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">All the parts and pieces</td></tr>
</tbody></table><br />
I then had to drill a small hole through the face of the metal piece of the clock. I replaced the original clock face with the face that came with the House of Miniatures kit. The clock hands were the next challenge. I wanted to use the clock hands that came with the kit but the holes in the hands are slightly different sizes than then original ones. My solution for this was trim the holes off of the kit hands and then glue these ones to the original hands. This worked well but was a bit tricky.<br />

Next I started the staining process. I started by carefully sanding the pieces as smooth as possible. Then I did a coat of stain. Once it was completely dry I lightly sanded again and did another coat of stain.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">First coat of stain</td></tr>
</tbody></table><br />
Now that that is drying I have started to put some of the interior hardware pieces together. The kit includes a pendulum that has to be assembled and 2 chains with weights that also have to be assembled. This is as far as I have gotten for today. I am patiently waiting for the finial coat of stain to dry so that I can assemble the clock. Final pictures to come soon!<br />

I worked on all sorts of different areas. I started by putting together a House of Miniatures mirror kit. The kit is actually 1" scale. These kits are not made anymore. You can find a lot available on ebay. They're really easy to put together and finish nicely.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

</tbody></table><br />
The mirror seemed a bit big in its original configuration so I turned it on its side. I changed were the trim pieces went. Now it fits nicely above my fireplace in the parlor. It does look quite grand!<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I used the same stain and mantel so that it matches</td></tr>

Today I also worked on painting the embossed plastic ceiling sheet for the kitchen. I first cut the pieces to size.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Main kitchen piece and bay window piece</td></tr>
</tbody></table><br />
Next I painted the pieces with a copper leaf paint. The paint went on really easily. To protect the paint since I was concerned with chipping I put on a coat of mod podge to seal it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvzF5wjg1thdaZesm30CcHsRjj1yR3t5OjC7RURXTEqIGo08eXxIRbzEdItEY7E45ev5BNRaDfW-Zn8dUVV1RVZfhQU5Ygu4YinpVOtZf-DSbA4eL7d5cMtQTucNZH0BLRJ9a0xad0w1xW/s1600/156.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvzF5wjg1thdaZesm30CcHsRjj1yR3t5OjC7RURXTEqIGo08eXxIRbzEdItEY7E45ev5BNRaDfW-Zn8dUVV1RVZfhQU5Ygu4YinpVOtZf-DSbA4eL7d5cMtQTucNZH0BLRJ9a0xad0w1xW/s320/156.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
I love how this turned out. It really makes it look like an authentic tin ceiling. Next in the kitchen I have to decide what I'm going to do with the walls. Most of the wall space is going to be covered with my cabinets.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7ju5cJuXGOTzue_eO35CihWI18jTEJ1aQBNuLP3NmWI6_hbj3_aHAjbUjQNB9snxZTGK0ZzGipT5mO34SUIy4VO7LjmycBFF4jXVbSHTs7KWqSyxTIQd9XiSMVknPm6ndFjccNxcPdqzi/s1600/179.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7ju5cJuXGOTzue_eO35CihWI18jTEJ1aQBNuLP3NmWI6_hbj3_aHAjbUjQNB9snxZTGK0ZzGipT5mO34SUIy4VO7LjmycBFF4jXVbSHTs7KWqSyxTIQd9XiSMVknPm6ndFjccNxcPdqzi/s320/179.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
To finish off the day I spent sometime working on the upstairs hallway and bathroom. I figured out how I'm going to do the railings at the top of the stairs. The below picture is just a dry fit. I still need to paint and stain the balusters. After staring at the picture below for a while I'm not sure that I need the set of railings that go against the wall. It looks like its too much. What do you think?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXT0y_-iEybnJFqtL05NMFCgccugQjiX6cmQX7Tqp6_-Q6TM457JzglpP9Umn4dTicihUDtFj8GVUc-x3OaxVk1STpLnSH6Z9j5bQ9A7cQ8Ggtew1CMQrJ3sEad_guhKRqFJiYZ4wyIwB0/s1600/168.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXT0y_-iEybnJFqtL05NMFCgccugQjiX6cmQX7Tqp6_-Q6TM457JzglpP9Umn4dTicihUDtFj8GVUc-x3OaxVk1STpLnSH6Z9j5bQ9A7cQ8Ggtew1CMQrJ3sEad_guhKRqFJiYZ4wyIwB0/s320/168.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />

Summer is always busy and since its so short in New Hampshire I do everything I can to get out and enjoy it. What I have had time to do is to work a bit on the parlor ceiling. In the parlor I decided to paper the ceiling. I then added extra details by cutting some other papers to create an edge and four squares in the corners.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Parlor Ceiling</td></tr>
</tbody></table><br />
I also added trim to create some depth to the ceiling. I'm debating whether it needs just a little bit more detail. I haven't decided what that might be yet.<br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Trim added</td></tr>
</tbody></table><br />
The baseboard is also almost all done in the parlor. Next I will have to finalize the fireplace mantel and glue it in place.<br />

This tight little spot is certainly challenging. I have closed off the second door that leads to the kitchen. The kitchen in the Fairfield is pretty small and I needed the wall space. I also added a window.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Completed window</td></tr>
</tbody></table>Adding the window has helped to brighten the hallway and has added another view. Looking through the window you will be able to see the staircase and right into the parlor. I'm really happy that I made this modification.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Window lets in lots of light</td></tr>
</tbody></table>So that I can get my hands in the tight space for wallpapering I did glue just the bottom half of some the the walls. Now they are in place I have wallpapered and put in embossed ceiling paper. The ceiling paper comes as bright white. I painted it the trim color so that it will blend in with the moldings. I'm going to do as much of the trim as possible in this hallway, crown molding and window trim. I'm also going to cut all the of the baseboard to size but wait on installing until the walls are glued to the base. Just in case I need to hide any imperfections.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Window trim and baseboard not glued yet</td></tr>
</tbody></table>The front door of the Fairfield is very important. Again because this is such a small space I wanted to make sure that you can see into this room. I did a little modification to the houseworks Victorian door. I loved the feel and look of the Victorian door but it really closes off the space so I actually combined two doors. I took the houseworks oval door out of its door frame and placed it in the Victorian door frame.<br />

I think that I'm going to add a walnut bead board to the bottom half of the walls. I really want the library to look nice and rich. The bead board will also give it more of an old Victorian look. I also still have to install the flooring. I'm putting walnut hard wood floors on this level which is the same as the downstairs.CraftyKatyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12040392726065996467noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4917968807253386910.post-34912578488397681242011-06-05T18:28:00.000-04:002011-06-05T18:28:44.597-04:00Walls are going upI have started to glue some of the walls in place. Oh in the pictures you can see the houseworks doors that I stained in walnut. I also added brass door knobs. I actually took the doors out of the frames and made my own. I wanted to use different interior trim than the trim that the doors came with. Another reason why I did this was because the door frames are a little to thick for the plywood walls. I really love all the detail that is going into this house. Below is the work I have been doing on the dining room ceiling. I made a grid on the ceiling and then took different widths of balsa wood to create the depth or vaulted ceiling look. I also took a jewelry finding and painted it to create the ceiling medallion.<br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Dining Room Ceiling</td></tr>
</tbody></table><br />
The next picture shows the ceiling painted. Once the house is assembled I will add the final molding to the outer edge.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Painted Ceiling</td></tr>

The next ceiling I have been working on is the parlor ceiling. I decided to paper this ceiling as many Victorian homes had this look. I also used another one of the jewelry findings as a center medallion. I will be adding other molding to the ceiling and then final crown molding once the house is together. Below is a picture of what I have done with it so far. I have not glued the medallion in place yet.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Parlor Ceiling the beginning</td></tr>

The other ceiling I have been thinking about is the kitchen ceiling. On this one I want to make it look like a tin ceiling. I found a plastic houseworks embossed sheet with a small design. I plan on using cooper paint to paint it to look like a tin ceiling.<br />

I figured that it will be best to do as much wallpapering as possible before I assemble the house. I sealed my wallpaper with Mod Podge before I installed it. Mod Podge will help to stop the paper from fading over time. It also makes the paper look more like real wallpaper.<br />

The windows needed some modification as I explain below.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2QOUgLzUYk0-qrlrxvbzDD7v_TBvifb3dHNWvTG1KbUPIDFgEv89BqSGi5goyt7IF78QAhg_yOApbleQv6Oj96Bxs5dvVRL_TdO6ONW_2XDqNX1Y4TntYN9bo__M7YBlIcrxpiYqLn649/s1600/Plain+Window.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2QOUgLzUYk0-qrlrxvbzDD7v_TBvifb3dHNWvTG1KbUPIDFgEv89BqSGi5goyt7IF78QAhg_yOApbleQv6Oj96Bxs5dvVRL_TdO6ONW_2XDqNX1Y4TntYN9bo__M7YBlIcrxpiYqLn649/s200/Plain+Window.jpg" width="200" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Traditional non-working window</td></tr>
</tbody></table>The houseworks windows are quite thick as compared to the plywood walls of the house. Even when I add the siding to the exterior the windows will stick into the house and will not be flush with the walls. To remedy this I decided to sand down the windows to the depth that I needed. This was time consuming but worth it to have the windows flush. Now the interior molding will sit nicely and finish the windows off on the inside of the house. Since I'm going with the Victorian theme I could just leave the windows this plain......<br />

The stairs that come with the kit were not my favorite. No matter how much sanding I did they just weren't up to par. So I adapted a set of houseworks stairs.<br />
<br />
Step 1: Cut the stairs to match the width of the original stairs.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMmKG2Tf8MOuW4vkA6-WnVkbqNl90MseySJqxnS5jrlLe7A35elK7ukqxjNy-2asj0PPGM3dTnz0gYyb76aekmCE4tEm8NZn1dkCuRU0lDYTZ_30PzBZZx394MCURwj3-000sbMEbZ_6Eh/s1600/042.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMmKG2Tf8MOuW4vkA6-WnVkbqNl90MseySJqxnS5jrlLe7A35elK7ukqxjNy-2asj0PPGM3dTnz0gYyb76aekmCE4tEm8NZn1dkCuRU0lDYTZ_30PzBZZx394MCURwj3-000sbMEbZ_6Eh/s320/042.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Staircase cut down to correct width</td></tr>
</tbody></table><br />
In the picture above you can also see that I added a piece at the bottom to create more of a base for the stairs.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: right;"></div>Step 2: Adding the base. I just cut 2 triangular pieces of balsa wood and glued them to the bottom.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdd3mSInTUIhZ_TWwuI86PWpdVfhTCDBDoVgLtKjV-5I8m05ZQBwSC0E5lDzPogYxHOwNdiA5p6dddlmgqCe6CuZJifqAEwkjeHjn89AW2rfWhqzygj5vq2B3Ot0kCTl7JoYz0VDItZAsH/s1600/043.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdd3mSInTUIhZ_TWwuI86PWpdVfhTCDBDoVgLtKjV-5I8m05ZQBwSC0E5lDzPogYxHOwNdiA5p6dddlmgqCe6CuZJifqAEwkjeHjn89AW2rfWhqzygj5vq2B3Ot0kCTl7JoYz0VDItZAsH/s320/043.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Triangular pieces added</td><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><br />
</td></tr>
</tbody></table><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>Step 3: Custom make all of the stair treads. The bottom 4 stair treads are a little wider than the stairs. I did this so that I can have a banister on the bottom part of the stairs. As the stairs go up they are sandwiched between the walls of the house, the treads on the higher steps need to be the same width as the staircase. I used balsa for the treads. I painted the staircase and I stained the treads in walnut. I added a little half round molding to the staircase base just to dress it up a bit.<br />

Sticking with the Victorian theme below is a sample of some of the papers I have chosen.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWCI_RcZHfehU88EsyapwMnJ_p5WQSs6URiZaFniMfQvJVgjC0CrULkMXGxOntrnLWqqhsoXME7hcnglerx1gd8sUCeUziePtXahGcYP-d2fuUmSteNubhCUUgFgRMLnv7r8a2wtfKDI3G/s1600/008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="150" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWCI_RcZHfehU88EsyapwMnJ_p5WQSs6URiZaFniMfQvJVgjC0CrULkMXGxOntrnLWqqhsoXME7hcnglerx1gd8sUCeUziePtXahGcYP-d2fuUmSteNubhCUUgFgRMLnv7r8a2wtfKDI3G/s200/008.JPG" width="200" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Brodnax Prints</td><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><br />
</td></tr>
</tbody></table>I have also decided to do Walnut hardwood floors throughout the Fairfield. Houseworks makes a 1/2" scale wood floor backed on paper that is super easy to install. All you have to do is cut it to fit and add a clear satin varnish.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDN8sq6ri82EQwQrZBUZxlfzOqplAbB6izwsAfEv3ZWtzZEeOMWRk3Jdu00oHpgbvdKtEJbAVF4oOev1MFsr90Xv65sNYh8W-SPzhdwQ6ym1ZVhxtfAlQwZQCrsLXUZdEA7Tg2DA16eWU-/s1600/009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="150" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDN8sq6ri82EQwQrZBUZxlfzOqplAbB6izwsAfEv3ZWtzZEeOMWRk3Jdu00oHpgbvdKtEJbAVF4oOev1MFsr90Xv65sNYh8W-SPzhdwQ6ym1ZVhxtfAlQwZQCrsLXUZdEA7Tg2DA16eWU-/s200/009.JPG" width="200" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Houseworks Flooring</td></tr>
</tbody></table>I have also decided on the exterior paint colors. Doing some research I was able to find historic Victorian paint colors. The hardware store will mix paint samples and they are a decent price. The paint samples are more than enough to paint a half scale dollhouse. <br />

I wanted to add something to the foundation to make it look more realistic. I found some resin wall pieces that are actually 1" scale field stone walls. Cut down and applied to my Fairfield they make a perfect 1/2" scale rock foundation. Adapting 1" scale items for 1/2" scale items really takes some imagination but I think that this really works.<br />

</tbody></table>The walls and siding will come down to meet the "rock" foundation. As you can also see in the picture I have chosen some lattice that I'm going to use on the porch part of the foundation. I think I will leave it as natural wood instead of painting it. I may stain it...the jury is still out on it.CraftyKatyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12040392726065996467noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4917968807253386910.post-66246224193891341872011-05-16T20:21:00.000-04:002011-05-16T20:21:36.719-04:00Design decisions...Much thought is going into the designing phase of this project. My first biggest decision was whether or not I should electrify my house. I love the way that lighting makes it even more special and detailed. I did a lot of back and forth on tape wire verses round wire. In other 1" scale houses that I've done I have used the tape wire. Tape wire is easy to use but I have had trouble with it bumping up under my wallpaper. I'm a bit of a perfectionist! So my final decision is round wire. In the Fairfield the fireplace cavity is open right through the middle of the house. I'm going to use this to hide the wires.<br />

1 Brass Carriage Lamp - for the exterior by the front door<br />
5 Candlestick Lights - for the fireplace mantels (2 for parlor fireplace, 2 for dining room fireplace, and 1 for the bedroom fireplace)<br />
5 Frosted Shade Oil Lamps (1 for parlor, 1 for entry hall, 1 for library, 1 for bedroom, and 1 for upstairs hall way)<br />
1 Picture Lamp - for the library (above the fireplace with a picture below it)<br />
2 Hex-shade Sconces - for the library (either side of the fireplace)<br />
1 Round Globe Wall Sconce - for the bathroom<br />
1 Six Candle Chandelier - for the dining room<br />
1 Four Candle Chandelier - for the kitchen<br />
1 Three Arm Globe Chandelier - for the parlor<br />
3 Round Globe Ceiling Lights (1 for the secret tower room, 1 for bathroom, and 1 for upstairs hallway) <br />
Lastly I bought kits for the fireplaces so that they will be lit and flickering.<br />
All the lights are by Houseworks. <br />

This house has a wonderful floor plan! It has 6 rooms, a secret tower space, and a spacious attic. My vision for this house is to go truly Victorian. Piece by piece over the next many months I will share my progress of this project. Their will be many challenges, ups and downs but in the end it will be worth the work.<br />
<br />
Step 1: Purchase the kit<br />
